Women's Grief Ritual

  • The Orchard School & Community Center 114 Old Settlers Road Alstead, NH, 03602 United States (map)

THIS EVENT IS BEING RESCHEDULED FOR LATE SUMMER. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON FOR A NEW EVENT DATE!!

A community ritual for women and those who identify as women/non-binary.

Inspired by the Dagara tribe of West Africa, we will join together to support one another in transmuting the layers of grief we hold consciously and unconsciously; personal, communal, global, and ancestral.

This ritual is anchored in nature, music, chant, and dance while being held by the elemental medicine of the Dagara. A profound experience of release and rejoicing, this ritual is imperative self-care to sustain all that we hold as women. Together we will liberate ourselves from the deep waters of accumulated and collective grief in a container that can hold it safely with the wisdom of the Elders.

Sliding Scale: $85-125

The Facilitators

Lula Christopher. Visionary| Educator Activist | Healer | Storyteller

Lula Christopher is the Founder of the Boston Black Women’s Health Institute, a grass-roots empowerment and health advocacy organization.

Lula is a visionary, social activist, educator, healer with a mission to inspire Black women to create physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and wellness in their lives and in their communities.

Lula is recognized as a national facilitator and trainer of community “Sister Circles” –sacred healing circles that provide space for women “seeking truth” to build bonds of sisterhood and relationships while providing skills and tools to help them find and implement their own solutions as individuals and as community.

The Circles include the magic of meditation, mindfulness, dancing, journaling, connecting with nature; the medicine of telling our stories-remembering who we are and who we can become, speaking our truths and co-creating earth based rituals – a space for transforming and healing our lives.

Lula’s vision is that women’s gifts as leaders and healers are recognized and affirmed and that women’s leadership is continually developed and nourished through all stages of their lives from girlhood to womanhood into their sage years.

Lula is an Initiated Elder in the Tradition of the Dagara Tribe of Burkina Faso, West Africa. She is a certified Ritual Leader, completing a three year apprenticeship program, and a two year study course exploring Indigenous African Spirit Technology, plus the Healing Wisdom of Africa with Elder and Shaman Dr. Malidoma Some, PH.D. of Burkina Faso.
